Plus we plan on staying at Casa Barbara, so transport on Holbox would be overkill, lol.
I have done ADO to PDC, walked to ferry to COZ, then ADO back to downtown CUN, taxi to ferry, and ferry to IM, and walked to hotel, so I don't have any anxiety. Mimac - I agree that for new travelers that might be the best option, definitely with the least worries. I don't mind paying the fair market value for the service I am receiving, but also like to save wherever possible and use that money towards something better. A taxi here in upstate NY for a 2 hr trip would run much higher than $125. I think the transfers are pretty fairly priced. I'm not saying that's a terrible price but not a good value compared to most other islands. Seriously, I was astonished how the rates skyrocketed from 2017 to 2018. And, if you have three people, forget about it. I just checked Holbox Dream and, for the end of October, it's now $130/night for the lowest possible room with breakfast.and that 's during low low season. It's only a few extra dollars for Go Holbox since we have three people, so worth it to me. Yes, there is a 3pm but I want to get underway asap and make the most of our time. Fortunately, we found Holbox when the girls did not want to vacation with us anymore, now they cant wait to go :) +20 years ago when the girls were small, we were AI on the PDC to Tulum corridor. There are still many affordable hotels and rentals, but yes, there are those that are riding the wave and getting what they can.Īs far a value for money, for us you cant find better. Last time I checked they were charging the same price. We always traveled for Halloween/Dia de Muertos and that was low season, we would stay at Holbox Dreams on the water for less than 60 USD per day with a breakfast. That is the break point where a small rental is less expensive, even with gas and parking. We only use transfers when we have a group of 4 plus or we are going for longer than 4 days. Yes, pricing has increased, but for the transfers I actually see them coming down due to competition, that is how I found Go Holbox. Hour drive to Monterrey then a 2 hour flight. I currently live and work in Saltillo Mexico so it is a little easier for me to get there. There is also a 3 pm shared shuttle if I am not mistaken. Only the wealthier vacationers will be willing to pay the prices they are asking and I would bet that at least 90% will NOT like Holbox. I think they are going to price out the travelers who appreciate Holbox. Holbox is no longer a good value for your money, IMHO.
Wow, Michigan Rob - 20 times?!? I think I might have just found my answer - thank you! So, since you have gone so many times, have you noticed how drastically the prices have risen in the past few years? I have been following Holbox for about 4 years now and it's shocking where the prices have gone. Too bad because that would have been perfect! Unfortunately, we are arriving at 11:40am, so no way we will be through in time for the 12pm shuttle. But Holbox Adventure or VIP Holbox will def be my fallback options! I will also be walking to hotel upon arrival at Holbox, so don't need transport there either. What I mean is that I am capable of purchasing ferry tickets at the port myself. I'm looking for a response based solely on the information I provided - just the most basic info, I can take it from there.
Like I don't want to hear about a transfer for $180pp, which is ridiculous, and I already know bus and flights options as well as some ground transportation. Sorry for bringing this topic up but I haven't yet come across a post with a simple answer. Getting into just any random cab is not an option for me - that is not the right call for a female, an elderly female, and a tween child. (Like I don't want to have to chase them down when we arrive and I don't want to be waiting at the airport for an hour for another flight.) I'm just worried about a reliable company with a reliable vehicle that will get us there and back with no nonsense. I want the cheapest, safest, and fastest option. Simply need a vehicle to get from point A (airport) to point B (ferry) Private preferred, but sharing okay (for a better price)ĭo not need transportation once on Holbox Okay, so I know this is like one of the top questions and, believe me, I have read countless posts on the subject.and still left wondering my best option.
